She Started Her First Company at 13 and Raised $30 Million by 25

31 March 2026

Jessica Mah started her first web company at age 13 and had built and sold multiple businesses by the time she enrolled at UC Berkeley. She was coding since age 10 and ran web hosting companies through high school.

The Berkeley Pivot

At Berkeley, she co-founded inDinero in 2009 as a personal finance dashboard. When the initial product struggled, she pivoted to providing full-service accounting and tax solutions for startups and small businesses.

Y Combinator and Growth

inDinero went through Y Combinator and raised over $30 million from investors including Ribbit Capital and important angels. The company grew to serve thousands of businesses with AI-powered accounting.

Breaking Barriers

Mah became one of the youngest female CEOs to raise significant venture capital. She proved that repeated failure and pivoting aren't setbacks — they're the path to finding the right product-market fit.
